FCB Nyasa Big Bullets enjoyed success on two domestic fronts over the weekend, with the First Team returning to winning ways in the FDH Bank Premiership and the Reserves continuing their impressive run to climb into second place in the SRFA FINCA Region Division One League.
On the international stage, a Bullets trio helped Malawi reach the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 semi-finals and qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
There was no fixture for the Under-19s, while Oscar Petro returned from injury to complete the full match for Civil Service United.

First Team
Bullets marked their return to FDH Bank Premiership action with a 2-0 victory over Chitipa United at Mpira Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Wedson Nyirenda’s men controlled long periods of the encounter but were made to wait for the breakthrough after Chitipa held firm through a goalless opening 45 minutes.
Blessings Mpokera converted from the penalty spot in the 80th minute before Clever Kalambo doubled the advantage two minutes later to seal maximum points.
The victory moved The People’s Team to 23 points from 12 matches, keeping us fourth in the standings and two points behind leaders Silver Strikers.

Reserves
Bullets Reserves maintained their impressive form with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Liberty FC at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Kondwani Chaula struck the crossbar midway through the first half before finding the decisive goal in the 44th minute, turning home Vincent Kampira’s delivery after Francis Malikebu launched the move.
Henry Kabichi’s side remained in control after the interval and almost doubled the advantage deep into stoppage time when Kampira hit the upright.
The victory lifted the young Bullets into second place with 22 points, five behind SRFA FINCA Region Division One leaders Ekhaya Reserves.

Under-19
Our Under-19 side had no fixture in the 2026 FCB Katswiri Under-19 League over the weekend.
Yamikani Fodya’s youngsters used the break to continue working in training ahead of their return to competitive action.
The young Bullets remain unbeaten after five league matches, having recorded four victories and one draw.
International Watch
Bullets Women trio Bernadetta Mkandawire, Lyna James and Maggie Chombo were part of a landmark night for Malawian football as the Scorchers defeated Ghana 2-1 to reach the WAFCON semi-finals and qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
Malawi recovered from conceding after six minutes, with Temwa Chawinga producing an immediate response five minutes later before Rose Kadzere completed the turnaround in the 78th minute.
The victory carried significance far beyond a place in the continental last four. For the first time, a senior Malawi national team—men’s or women’s—will compete at a FIFA World Cup.
Mkandawire completed the quarter-final and fittingly made Malawi’s final clearance before the full-time whistle, while James was an unused substitute.

Oscar Petro made a successful return from injury as he completed CIVO United’s FDH Bank Premiership encounter against Masters FC.
The Reserves graduate was restored to the starting XI after missing CIVO’s previous fixture and played the full 90 minutes, although his side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Completing the contest marked a positive return for Petro as he continues his development through regular top-flight football.
