Bullets’ FDH Bank Cup R32 date and venue set

The date and venue for our FDH Bank Cup Round-of-32 clash away to Bangwe All Stars have been fixed.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will face Ma Stars at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday, the Football Association of Malawi has communicated.

The FDH Bank Cup holders drew the TNM Super League side in the R32 phase following a draw that took place at Mpira Village in Blantyre last Tuesday.

Bullets will switch focus to the knock-out cup competition coming from a disappointing goalless draw away to Kamuzu Barracks in the Super League on Saturday.

It will be the first meeting between Kalisto Pasuwa’s men and Bangwe in a cup game and the defending champions will be looking to bounce back from the recent frustrating results in the league, leaving us fifth in the table.

The 2024 edition has Bullets eyeing a third straight trophy of the FDH Bank-sponsored national cup.

The winner between Bullets and Bangwe, a side which is currently in the relegation zone of the TNM Super League table, will play the winner between Cobbe Barracks and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Round of 16.

We have the possibility of the Blantyre derby coming up in the next round if The People’s Team beat Bangwe and the Nomads win away at Cobbe.

Our city rivals will travel to Balaka to face the non-league Zomba-based Malawi Defence Force side on Monday.

Other R32 fixtures involving all Super League teams will see Creck Sporting Club welcoming FOMO and Karonga United hosting Mzuzu City Hammers.

Bullets first won the FDH Bank Cup in 2022 and defended the title last year after a 3-0 victory over MAFCO FC in a season Pasuwa’s men won a historic domestic quadruple.

Bangwe reached the quarter-finals stage where they were booted out by MAFCO 5-4 on post-match penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.
