The 2026/27 FDH Bank Premiership will resume on 10 October, the Super League of Malawi has confirmed.
For The People’s Team, the announcement comes after completing its first-round fixtures with 30 points following an emphatic 5-0 win over Silver Strikers on Saturday.
The result leaves Wedson Nyirenda’s side temporarily at the summit, with one first-round fixture still to be played between Blue Eagles and Mighty Wanderers.
Saturday’s victory took Bullets to eight wins, six draws and one defeat from 15 matches.
Mighty Wanderers are currently second on 29 points from 14 matches, ahead of Silver Strikers on goal difference, with Blue Eagles fourth on 28 points from 14 matches.
The two sides will meet on 19 September at Nankhaka Stadium to complete their first-round schedules, meaning the final positions at the top are yet to be settled.
The league will enter a two-week recess coinciding with the combined FIFA international window, which runs from 21 September to 6 October.
Clubs will use the break to prepare for the second round, with current transfer activity needing to be concluded before the domestic window closes on 21 September.
For Bullets, Nyirenda has already moved to strengthen his squad, bringing in Liberian midfielder Sheku Sheriff and Zimbabwean forward Tinaye Tsimba on two-year contracts, with further additions still possible before the transfer window closes.
The break now provides an opportunity for Nyirenda to integrate the new arrivals, fine-tune his squad and build on the momentum generated towards the end of the first round.
After a strong finish to the opening round, The People’s Team will return in October with its sights firmly set on sustaining its challenge at the top and making the second round count.
