The June winner has earned another nomination after guiding The People’s Team through an unbeaten run to the end of the first round.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Wedson Nyirenda is up for the August Coach of the Month award in the 2026 FDH Bank Premiership.
Fresh from being named the league’s best coach for June, Nyirenda has earned another nomination after guiding The People’s Team through a four-match unbeaten run that stretched from August into the final first-round fixture.
Bullets began the run with a 2-0 victory over Chitipa United at Mpira Stadium, where Blessings Mpokera broke the deadlock from the penalty spot before Clever Kalambo struck two minutes later to seal the points.
Another narrow victory followed a week later as we travelled north to face Karonga United, with Ephraim Kondowe’s 37th-minute finish proving enough to secure a 1-0 win at Karonga Stadium.
The unbeaten run continued at Dedza Stadium, where Bullets were held to a goalless draw by Luanar Mitundu, extending the side’s run without conceding.
Then came a statement finish to the first round.
On 5 September, Bullets swept aside Silver Strikers 5-0, with Kondowe completing a hat-trick alongside goals from Wongani Lungu and Misheck Billiat to round off an emphatic final league outing before the mid-season break.
Across the four matches, Nyirenda’s side collected 10 points from a possible 12, scoring eight goals without conceding and keeping four consecutive clean sheets.
With the second round set to resume on 10 October, Nyirenda now finds himself among three coaches shortlisted for the award, alongside Blue Eagles coach Declerk Msakakuona and Civil Service United head coach Abbas Makawa.
Msakakuona recorded three wins and one defeat, with Blue Eagles scoring six goals and conceding four, while Makawa’s Civil Service United registered three wins and one loss, scoring four goals and conceding two.
