Emmanuel Kaunga has been named FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ BCA Travel & Tours Player of the Month for August.
The 28-year-old defender becomes the first recipient of the award after topping the opening fan poll of the 2026/27 season.
Kaunga claimed 39% of the vote, finishing ahead of captain Blessings Mpokera, who received 28%. Goalkeeper Innocent Nyasulu collected 18%, while winger Clever Kalambo finished with 15%.
The recognition reflects Kaunga’s standout contribution during a month in which The People’s Team remained unbeaten, collecting seven points from three FDH Bank Premiership fixtures and recording three consecutive clean sheets.
In his first season with the club following his arrival in March, Kaunga started all three August matches and provided authority, composure and consistency at the heart of Bullets’ defence.
He played his part as The People’s Team beat Chitipa United and Karonga United before closing the month with a goalless draw against Mitundu Luanar.
Beyond his defensive duties, Kaunga also proved influential in possession. Against Mitundu Luanar, he completed the highest number of successful passes for Bullets, underlining his composure and ability to help build play from the back.
That consistency ultimately earned Kaunga the supporters’ vote, making him the first recipient of the honour.
Kaunga receives a MWK 1 million cash prize and a bespoke Player of the Month trophy, courtesy of our preferred travel partner, BCA Travel & Tours.
Congratulations to Emmanuel, and thank you to everyone who voted!
