Mwaungulu wins June Player of the Month

Patrick Mwaungulu has been voted as the Hubertus Clausius Player of the Month for June 2022.

The 21-year-old midfielder got 76.5 percent of the votes, above Babatunde Adepoju and Chimwemwe Idana, who got 23.1 percent and 0.4 percent of the votes, as voted by fans via mobile using the club’s 441 SMS platform.

Mwaungulu, who got promoted from Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves at the start of the season, has been impressive in this campaign, so far scoring five goals and providing seven assists in the TNM Super League.

The youngster was on target and provided three assists as The People’s Team thumped Mighty Tigers 5-0 at Kamuzu Stadium on June 18.

His well-taken corner kick was connected into the net by Precious Sambani to give Bullets a lead and moments later, Mwaungulu provided Babatunde Adepoju an assist with a brilliant pass in the offensive zone, before he scored our third goal.

The winger was not yet done with assists when he provided his third on the day to Lanjesi Nkhoma, who ended his goal-scoring drought, netting a brace in that match.

His form earned him a maiden Flames call-up and made two appearances for the national team at the ongoing Hollywood Bets Cosafa Cup in South Africa. He came off the bench during Malawi’s 2-0 loss to Lesotho and was handed his full debut against Mauritius in a game the Flames won 2-0

Congratulations, Mwaungulu!
