From a promising arrival in 2021 to becoming one of the most lethal forwards in FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ recent history, Babatunde Adepoju’s journey reached a major milestone on Wednesday afternoon — and he marked it in classic fashion.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets forward Babatunde Adepoju says reaching 100 games for the club is a proud and emotional moment in his career—especially after marking the occasion with the winning goal in a narrow 1-0 victory over Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium.
The Nigerian striker initially joined Bullets from city rivals Mighty Wanderers on 1st July 2021 and wasted no time making an impression. After two seasons of standout performances, he earned a move to South Africa, signing with Venda Football Club.
In 2024, he returned to Bullets on loan — and picked up right where he left off. His century appearance came with a major contribution: his 83rd goal involvement for the club, underlining his lasting influence on the pitch.
“This shows the journey that I started, and I’m going to continue — I’m not stopping here,” Babatunde said. “It feels really good, especially in a game like this, which was very tight. Scoring the winning goal and helping the team makes me so happy.”
In a match that demanded patience and composure, Babatunde rose to the occasion. The Nigerian forward found himself in the right place at the right time, meeting Henry Chiwaya’s delivery with a calm, assured finish — a goal that sent the red half of Kamuzu Stadium into raptures.
“These are the kinds of games the coach wants us to embrace — tough and competitive. They test your character. I live for these moments.”
Babatunde credited the Bullets environment for his growth, both before and after his stint in South Africa.
“A lot has changed from the time I came back from where I was before joining Bullets. I’ve been able to understand football more deeply, and I believe I can now help the team in even bigger ways.”
“Every time I wear this jersey, I feel the love from the fans and the weight of what it means to play for this badge. That pushes me to give my all.”
“This is a massive achievement for me because honestly, I never imagined reaching 100 games here. But now that I have, I know there’s more I can give — more goals, more assists, more trophies.”
With a congested fixture schedule ahead — including 20 remaining TNM Super League matches, next week’s Airtel Top 8 final against Silver Strikers, and expected campaigns in both the FDH and Castel Challenge Cup competitions — Babatunde insists that staying fit and focused is non-negotiable.
“This is my job. I don’t have excuses. Recovery, fitness, sharpness — that’s what matters now. I want to keep helping this team win.”
Having netted several memorable goals in red, the striker singled out a few that still stand out in his memory.
“There are many, but I always remember the one against Kamuzu Barracks in Lilongwe back in 2022, and another one against Moyale in the FDH Cup last year. I know there are more to come.”
