FCB Nyasa Big Bullets assistant coach Heston Munthali has vowed The People’s Team will soldier on following Saturday’s 1-0 FDH Bank Premiership defeat away to Goshen City Dedza Dynamos.
Munthali took charge of the Matchweek 11 fixture in the absence of head coach Wedson Nyirenda. Reflecting on the match, the assistant coach admitted we fell below our usual standards and lacked the required aggression in attacking areas.
“It is not a good result for us. We needed these points, but we did not come to the party,” he reflected.
“We were not aggressive enough going forward, and this is not how we train. We will go back to the drawing board, assess what happened and find a way forward.”
Marko Chiwaya’s 40th-minute goal settled the contest as we finished the match without registering an attempt on target despite pushing for an equaliser during the second half.
Munthali expressed concern over our lack of cutting edge, particularly after finishing had been a major focus throughout the week.
“It is a big concern because we spent the whole week working on our finishing, but today we did not show any cutting edge in front of goal,” he explained.
“We were negative and lacked aggression in the final third. That is football, but we will return to the drawing board and work on finding a solution.”
Saturday’s result extended our run without a victory to three matches across all competitions following the Airtel Top 8 quarter-final exit on penalties and last weekend’s goalless league draw against Ekhaya FC.
Munthali acknowledged that the recent sequence is concerning but insisted we will correct the problems and move forward.
“It does not look good, and it is worrying. However, we will rectify the problems, soldier on and find a way forward.”
The defeat brought an end to our unbeaten start to the league campaign after five victories and five draws from the opening ten matches.
Our focus now shifts to a home meeting with Chitipa United as we look to respond to the setback.
