After home and away victories over Nchima United and QPL All Stars respectively, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves return to Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday looking to make it three consecutive league wins when they host Chilomoni FC in the SRFA FINCA Division One League.
The young Bullets head into the fixture full of confidence after an emphatic 4-0 victory over QPL All Stars five days ago, a result that strengthened their push up the table and further boosted belief within Henry Kabichi’s squad.
Chilomoni, meanwhile, arrive looking to return to winning ways after being held to a goalless draw by Zingwangwa United in their previous league outing.
The sides met twice last season. Their first meeting ended in a 1-1 draw before Bullets Reserves produced a dominant display to record an emphatic 8-0 victory in the reverse fixture.
Heading into Saturday’s clash, Kabichi’s side sit sixth in the table with 13 points. Victory could lift the young Bullets into the top four, depending on results elsewhere.
Chilomoni occupy 15th place with five points from eight matches and will be eager to collect valuable points in their bid to climb away from the bottom of the standings.
With momentum building, Kabichi has challenged his players to maintain the standards that have underpinned their recent performances.
“We’re pleased with the way the boys have responded over the last two matches, but those results won’t mean much if we don’t maintain our standards. Every game brings a different challenge, and we know Chilomoni will come here determined to get a result.”
“It’s important that we approach the match with the same focus and commitment we’ve shown in recent weeks.”
The former Bullets midfielder believes confidence is growing within the squad but insists discipline and hard work will be crucial to extending their winning run.
“The win over QPL All Stars gave the players confidence, but confidence alone doesn’t win football matches. We’ve prepared well, and now it’s about taking that preparation onto the pitch.”
“We need the right attitude, discipline and commitment from the first whistle. We respect Chilomoni, but playing at home gives us a good opportunity to build on our momentum and keep moving up the table.”
Kick-off is at 14:30 at Kamuzu Stadium, with Bullets Reserves looking to extend their winning run and strengthen their push towards the top four. At the same time, the first team will be in FDH Bank Premiership action away to Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium.
