Singo out of Malawi vs Liberia match, Salima doubtful

Malawi head coach Kalisto Pasuwa has disclosed that FCB Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Yankho Singo has been ruled out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liberia.

The Flames welcome the Lone Stars at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Monday

Pasuwa said: “Yankho Singo has been definitely ruled out, he is not feeling well.

“I also heard in the morning that Chikumbutso Salima was not feeling well again, but we will have to see after the day on how they are.”

Malawi is coming from a 2-1 win over Namibia at the Francistown Stadium in Botswana, with Richard Mbulu and Gabadinho Mhango scoring for Pasuwa’s men. The team arrived in Lilongwe on Saturday.

With two Bullets players in Flames camp, Singo featured as Malawi collected all three points against the Brave Warriors while Salima was on the bench.

Malawi sit fifth with nine points, and a win against Liberia would see Pasuwa’s side climb to third place with just two rounds of qualifiers remaining.
