Nyasa Big Bullets’ top scorer in all competitions this season, Babatunde Adepoju, on Saturday finished the 2022 TNM Super League campaign as the winner of the Golden Boot.
Baba scored our opening goal in the 2-1 triumph over Dedza Dynamos at the Kamuzu Stadium on the closing day of the league season to take his tally to 18.
The Nigerian striker spoke to club media on how pleased he was for winning the individual accolade, his second this season after he also scooped the FDH Bank Cup top scorer award, on his best goal of the season, on how he welcomes the arrival of a new striker at the club and more.
Below is every word the striker had to say:
On winning the 2022 TNM Super League Golden Boot
“I feel so glad, I feel so great. But first of all, I need to thank Almighty God, the technical panel and my teammates for supporting me because I could not do it myself without them. So, I appreciate it.”
On his best goal of the league season
“The goal I would say stands out is the goal I scored [late] against Kamuzu Barracks in Lilongwe [for us to win the game 0-1]. It was a tough game, but it brought the difference and I was happy to get the three points for my team.”
On the arrival of a new striker Maxwell Phodo
“This is a big team, competition is allowed. It shows the team is moving forward, there is no pressure on my side. We will see how it goes; the coach knows what it takes to play for the team. The decision will be up to him, but this accolade [Golden Boot] will motivate me to do more and keep working hard.”
On what to expect from him next season
“Next season will speak for itself. We have the Airtel Top 8 and will be done with this season. We need to reassess and see how it goes next season.”
