The quest for a better tune before the new season takes off continues for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as we are set to host Red Lions at the Kamuzu Stadium in a pre-season friendly match on Sunday afternoon.
With this year’s Charity Shield encounter scheduled to take place early next month, Sunday’s friendly is more likely to be Kalisto Pasuwa’s last strength-testing match on the squad he has amassed for the new campaign.
Maule defended the TNM Super League championship for the fourth consecutive time last year and will now be looking to make it five in five years this season.
In preparations for that gigantic task, Bullets have hosted a three-game international pre-season bonanza in which their arch-rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and two Mozambican sides, UD Songo and Ferroviaro de Nampula took part.
After the tourney in Blantyre, The People’s Team then took a trip to Lilongwe where they drew 1-1 against Kamuzu Barracks in a friendly match at the Civo Stadium. They were set to face Extreme FC later in the central region after facing the 2016 TNM Super League winners, but that fixture was unfortunately cancelled due to the 14-day mourning period during the Cyclone Freddy crisis.
As there have been several changes at the club, Sunday’s fixture will offer yet another exhibition of the face the reigning champions will put on in the upcoming campaign. It will also be an opportunity for the new arrivals at the club to assert their place in the team.
