Injury update as Bullets await to learn Airtel Top 8 semifinal opponent

Share

Nyasa Big Bullets will not be in action this week as they await to know their next opponent in the 2022 Airtel Top 8 semifinals.

Despite the break, it has been business as usual in training as The People’s Team returned from Karonga on Sunday night following a 1-1 stalemate in the second leg of the quarterfinal tie against Karonga United.

The defending champions cruised to this year’s semis with a comfortable 8-1 aggregate win over the Ingwinas and will play the winner between Kamuzu Barracks and Silver Strikers, who are meeting in their return leg on Sunday for a place in the final four after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

As usual, Kalisto Pasuwa spoke to club media on Thursday and the head coach provided an update on how his charges have been doing in training this week, how the break has helped some of his injured players to recover, and how important it was to rest some of the regular players during the trip to Karonga.

Read everything Pasuwa said below…

On training update

“Training so far so good. Remember we had some of the guys who were having knocks that we left [when travelling to Karonga] and some of the players we thought they should have to rest. [Now] we have [almost] everyone back in training, and you can see the intensity they are using in terms of how they are approaching the training sessions and this means we have refreshed their legs and it looks good for us before we play our next game.”

On injury Updates

“We have Yankho Singo who was injured and has started training and he is doing very well, only maybe his fitness levels that we still need to monitor and see how best we can go, but again we have got one or two games to go before finishing the season. We have some guys like Babatunde [Adepoju] and Anthony Mfune who are both injured and are both under medical supervision, but the rest of the guys are raring to go and we are trying to maintain their fitness as you know this week, we are not playing games, so we will try as much as we can to keep them in shape.”

On why this weekend’s break is very important

“It’s the attacking prowess of our strikers that we have been having so many knocks and I think the break is an advantage for us in having these guys recover on the weekend that we are not having a game and we are making sure also on the medical side of it they are monitoring them as you know these two crucial games, we need to do everything for us to pull out results.”
