Lanjesi Nkhoma has been voted FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ Player of the Month for April 2023.
The first team POM award is sponsored by Hubertus Clausius.
The wing-forward becomes our first winner of the award this season following his superb showings in April, scoring three times in three league appearances.
From a well-weighted Alick Lungu low cross, Nkhoma produced a cool tap-in to give Bullets a TNM Super League lead away to Silver Strikers before the Central Bankers equalised to end our league opener in a 1-1 draw at Bingu National Stadium on 15 April.
Picking up from where he left away in Lilongwe, the 25-year-old was saucy again the following week when Bullets battered Mafco FC 4-0 in our second fixture of the season at Kamuzu Stadium.
From the spot, Nkhoma scored our second goal against the military side and his second of the campaign. After being beautifully set up by Maxwell Gasten Phodo’s back-heel pass, the wing forward later completed his brace on the day with a lovely finish past Mafco’s Blessings Kameza to take his goal tally to three.
Against league debutants, Extreme FC, in the last tie of April, Nkhoma had a quiet match but carried enough hope in his play to last the whole 90 minutes of Bullets’ hard-fought 1-0 victory. That meant the winger had netted three goals in three appearances, and that backed up by eye-catching performances was truly enough to win him the Player of the Month Award for April.
The other nominees for the award, goalkeeper Richard Chimbamba and midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu, had remarkable performances as well in April, but it was Nkhoma’s displays that won more supporters’ votes for the accolade.
Since opening his goal-scoring account on Match Day 1 of the season away to Silver Strikers, Nkhoma has been in terrific form. He is currently leading the TNM Super League top goal-scorers chart with six goals in five appearances.
Congratulations Lanjesi Nkhoma for winning the first Hubertus Clausius Players of the Month award in the 2023 season!
