Maxwell Phodo will miss two matches after picking a red card during the Blantyre derby against Mighty Wanderers

Squad Update: Chirwa ahead of Red Lions clash

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Gilbert Chirwa has shared the latest squad update ahead of Sunday’s FDH Bank Premiership fixture against Red Lions in Mwanza.

The People’s Team return to Joyce Chitsulo Stadium for Matchweek 4 after collecting seven points from the opening three league matches.

Bullets will, however, be without forward Maxwell Phodo, who will serve a two-match suspension following his red card during last Sunday’s Blantyre derby victory over Mighty Wanderers at Bingu National Stadium.

The forward will miss Sunday’s fixture in Mwanza as well as Bullets’ following league assignment.

Addressing the media ahead of Sunday’s encounter, Chirwa commented on the dismissals, which also involved physical trainer Noel Kaole.

“The derby is always a high-tempo game. We always take positives and negatives from every game,” said Chirwa. “We always encourage our players to behave and discipline is number one and for sure Phodo is going to serve two matches [ban].”

Chirwa stressed the importance of maintaining discipline in high-pressure matches as Bullets prepare for another demanding fixture this weekend.

Our head coach also confirmed that defenders Ahamad Kung’unde and Chrispin Mapemba, midfielder Frank Willard and goalkeeper McLean Mwale remain sidelined through injury.

The quartet continues to work through recovery as Bullets prepare for another important league assignment in Mwanza.

Sunday’s encounter presents another opportunity for The People’s Team to continue their positive start to the season in front of the Mwanza supporters.

Kick-off against Red Lions is scheduled for 14:30 at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
