Ahamad Kung'unde remains on the sidelines as Dastan Banda is out as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets host Moyale Barracks in Mwanza

Squad Update: Munthali ahead of Moyale Barracks

Heston Munthali has provided the latest update on the FCB Nyasa Big Bullets squad ahead of Sunday’s FDH Bank Premiership encounter against Moyale Barracks at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium in Mwanza.

Following the departure of Gilbert Chirwa on Thursday, Munthali will lead The People’s Team into Sunday’s fixture.

The former Bullets Reserves head coach joined the first-team technical team towards the end of last season when Chirwa stepped into the interim head coach role following Peter Mponda’s departure.

Munthali confirmed that Bullets will be without defender Emmanuel Kaunga and striker Dastan Banda, who are the latest additions to the club’s injury list.

Kaunga sustained his injury during last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Blue Eagles, while Banda picked up a knock in training.

He also revealed that Frank Willard and Edward Thengo have resumed light training but will not be available for selection.

Chrispin Mapemba, Ahamad Kung’unde and McLean Mwale also remain sidelined through injury.

“We have injury concerns. The latest ones are Emmanuel Kaunga and Dastan Banda, and they won’t be available on Sunday.

“Frank Willard and Edward Thengo have started light training, but they won’t be available for this game. The rest of the players who have been on the sidelines are still out,” confirmed Munthali.

There is, however, a significant boost for The People’s Team as Maxwell Phodo returns to contention after serving a two-match suspension.

The experienced forward has not featured since being sent off in Bullets’ 2-1 derby victory over Mighty Wanderers three weeks ago.

His availability hands Bullets an important option in attack as they look to build momentum in the league.

“Maxwell is back after serving his suspension. His return is very positive because he brings experience to the team.

“He’s a big player and a morale booster for the squad. We hope that if selected, he will perform as the big player that he is,” said the former Bullets and Malawi forward.
