Head coach Wedson Nyirenda has reported a positive squad picture ahead of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ FDH Bank Premiership trip to Luanar Mitundu at Dedza Stadium on Sunday.
George Chaomba has returned to full training after his injury layoff, while Clever Kalambo is also available again after serving the suspension that ruled him out of last weekend’s 1-0 victory away to Karonga United.
Speaking during Thursday’s pre-match press conference, Nyirenda confirmed that the squad is largely available, with Chrispin Mapemba and Paul Master remaining on the sidelines.
“George Chaomba is back and he is training full time. He trained yesterday and he came today as well. We still have Mapemba out, but I think the rest are okay and it’s a full house,” he said.
Chaomba had been sidelined after picking up an injury in training following last month’s defeat away to Goshen City Dedza Dynamos, subsequently missing the victories over Chitipa United and Karonga United.
Kalambo, meanwhile, returns to contention after missing the Karonga trip through suspension — the first competitive match he had missed since joining The People’s Team in April.
Before that fixture, the winger had started each of Bullets’ opening 14 matches across all competitions this season — 12 in the FDH Bank Premiership and both legs of the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal.
Misheck Billiat started in his absence against Karonga and completed the full 90 minutes.
Nyirenda has been encouraged by Kalambo’s response since returning to training, saying the winger has worked with the intensity of someone who featured in the previous game and continues to look strong and sharp.
His availability gives The People’s Team another attacking option for Sunday.
“I think we will have more firepower in Dedza,” the Bullets head coach added.
Mapemba remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from a long-term injury, while Master is also still sidelined.
Bullets head to Dedza following consecutive league victories over Chitipa United and Karonga United.
The People’s Team are third in the standings with 26 points from 13 matches, level with second-placed Mighty Wanderers and two behind leaders Silver Strikers.
Sunday’s meeting with Luanar will be our final away fixture of the first round and second visit to Dedza Stadium this season. Kick-off is at 14:30.
