Airtel Top 8 semifinal details confirmed

Dates, venue, and kick-off times for the Airtel Top 8 semifinals have been confirmed.

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) announced the details on Monday.

FAM confirmed that both games will be played at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The first semifinal match between Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers will be played under floodlights at 18h00 on Saturday, November 2.

Defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will host Kamuzu Barracks the following day, with kick-off set for 15h00.

Our meeting against KB will be the first-ever in the competition since its launch in 2017.

It will also be The People’s Team’s fourth consecutive semifinal appearance in the Airtel Top 8, reaching the semis in the 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023 editions.

Bullets won the competition twice, beating Silver Strikers 5-4 on penalties in 2021 and Mafco FC 2-1 last season.

We lost in two finals in 2018 and 2022 to Blue Eagles and our rivals Wanderers, respectively.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s men reached this stage of the competition this campaign after beating Civil Service United 2-0 on aggregate in the two-legged quarterfinals.

The Malawi FA also confirmed that the final of this year’s edition will be played on 9 November at the same venue.
