Andrew Jovinala signs for Bullets

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is delighted to confirm that Andrew Jovinala has completed a permanent move to the club from Blue Eagles.

The defender, 22, has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at The People’s Team until January 2028.

Jovinala won the FDH Bank Cup with Blue Eagles last season and was a key member of the squad that helped the Area 30 side return to the TNM Super League after spending the 2024 season in the Chipiku Central Region Football League, the second tier of Malawian football.

He began his junior career playing for Lilongwe’s Black Rangers in the FCB Under 20 League in 2018. He then joined Joseph Football Club of Mchinji in 2021 before moving to Blue Eagles a year later and went on to score 15 goals for the Malawi Police side.

Jovinala said:

“I am so excited to [join Bullets]. It’s not a move that I expected and I’m delighted [to be here]. It was my dream to play for this team and when I heard that Bullets were knocking for my services, I was so thrilled and didn’t hesitate to decide because I knew my dream had come true.

“My expectations are high [coming here]. I pray that I continue developing and going further with my career. There’s a lot that I want to achieve as a player and I know God has opened a door for me.

“I know it’s not easy to play for this big team, considering highest the competition in the team, but the club coming for my signature means they believe in my capabilities. I want to assure the club and all Bullets fans that I’m here to do the job and I will work to my level best to deliver.”

“A very good player, comfortable on the ball. The plus about him is that he can play as a centre-back [and a right-back]. We need players who can be used in different positions. It’s going to be a long season, we might encounter some injuries, so if we have players who can play in a number of positions is a very good thing for the club.

“I watched him play in three games; I saw the quality he’s having. It’s unfortunate that in the second tier, they play in bumpy fields, he was very comfortable, and I said if he’s able to play in these pitches, he’s a good player. We said we would only bring to Bullets players who can add value to the team, for me I believe that he’s that player, he’s that missing puzzle [piece].

We have lost Gome as a right-back, but he was also playing as a centre-back. Andrew also plays as a right back and he can play as a centre back, so we’re very comfortable in that position.

“I don’t think my eyes deceived me, he’s a quality [player], but it’s up to him now. It doesn’t mean because he’s at Bullets now and he’s guaranteed a position, he has to work hard to fight for his position. But with his quality, if the hard work is there, I believe he is going to make it into the first eleven.”
