FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is delighted to announce that goalkeeper Austin Chirambo has completed a permanent transfer from Manchester Motors after signing a four-year contract with the club.
The 22-year-old goalie has been part of our reserves on loan since January 2023, completing two seasons with the team.
Nicknamed ‘Giant’ due to his imposing figure, Chirambo was by then rejoining Bullets having been part of our youth side in 2021 before he left for Motors after recording six clean sheets out of ten appearances.
Competing with three other equally talented net-minders, Chirambo made 37 appearances across the two seasons with the reserves, registering 19 clean sheets.
During this stay, with more impressive performances, the ‘keeper eventually received a call-up from the senior Malawi national team under Patrick Mabedi.
He participated in the COSAFA games with the Flames Under 20 in Eswatini and the senior Flames in South Africa.
During the AFCON qualifiers, he was named a standby keeper for the Flames’ squad in matches against Tunisia, Liberia and Guinea.
The Likoma-Island-born Chirambo boasts excellent handling skills and elastic reflexes. He is very good at dealing with lofted kicks into the box, thanks to his height and sharp calculations.
Growing his game, he is fast becoming a complete modern keeper as he increasingly brings his footwork to perfection.
