FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have completed the signing of Wongani Lungu from Mzuzu City Hammers.
The 22-year-old midfielder joins The People’s Team on a three-year deal until August 2027.
Lungu joins Bullets after his ten-year career with the Mzuzu-based side where he was captain until moving to Blantyre.
He joined Hammers Youth, formerly known as Sanwecka FC, before being introduced to the first team in 2021, making nine TNM Super League appearances and three in the FDH Bank Cup, helping the team reach the final that season.
In the 2022 campaign, the created midfielder featured in all 30 league games as Hammers finished tenth in the standings, scoring six goals and providing six assists. He also had minutes in two FDH Bank Cup games.
Last season, Lungu only missed one game in the league. He found the back of the net four times and recorded five assists in 29 games. He was featured in three FDH Bank Cup matches and four in the Castel Challenge Cup.
In the opening half of the current campaign, the midfielder played 15 games for the Hammers, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
The former Mzuzu City Hammers was also part of the Malawi National Football Team squad that played at the Four Nations.
Lungu said: “I am very excited to join FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. It’s a dream come true for me to join the biggest club in Malawi. It was an easy decision to make for me to join the most successful club here in Malawi. I am looking forward to going far with my career with my new team.”
He becomes the third player from the Mzuzu-based side to make his switch to the Malawi champions after we signed Eric Kaonga in 2021 before he rejoined his former club in January, and Chawanangwa Gumbo, who joined Kalisto Pasuwa’s side at the start of the 2022 campaign.
