Bullets duo in Scorchers provisional squad

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women’s midfielders Tendai Sani and Zainab Kapanda have been selected in Malawi’s provisional squad.

On Wednesday, Scorchers head coach Lovemore Fazili named a 30-member team for the February Women’s FIFA Window camp to start on Friday.

20-year-old Sani, who scored 65 goals for Bullets Women in the 2024/25 Goshen FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League, is slowly becoming a regular for the Scorchers following her first senior national team call-up last year.

Kapanda, on the other hand, receives her first call-up to the national team after being on the sidelines for over two years due to a devastating knee injury she had suffered during a national championship match.

The Scorchers were initially set to face the Republic of the Congo in the WAFCON qualifiers during the FIFA Window. However, Congo’s withdrawal from the competition has left Malawi without an opponent. Despite this unexpected turn of events, the team will proceed with the camp as planned.

The Football Association of Malawi is actively exploring the possibility of securing a friendly match to ensure the squad remains sharp and competitive ahead of future challenges.
