Bullets to face KB in Airtel Top 8 semis

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will face Kamuzu Barracks in the semifinals of the Airtel Top 8.

The two teams, who will meet for the first time since the competition’s launch in 2017, will compete for the final slot at a venue to be confirmed by the Football Association of Malawi.

The Capital City-based soldiers made it through to this stage after seeing off Chitipa United 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 stalemate at Civo Stadium in the two-legged quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon.

Chitipa had won the first leg 2-0 but succumbed to a 2-0 defeat away in Lilongwe for the tie to be decided through spot-kicks.

Bullets reached the Last 8 of the competition with a 2-0 aggregate win over Civil Service United after they played out to a goalless draw in the second leg at Civo Stadium on Saturday.

The People’s Team had already secured a 2-0 first-leg victory over the Servants in the first meeting in Blantyre.

As defending champions, Bullets are chasing a third Airtel Top 8 Cup, having won it in 2021 and 2023, while KB hopes to progress to the final and possibly win it for the first time.
