FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women will continue their FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League title defence with an away fixture against Evirom at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Following the goalless tie against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers last week, Bullets Women currently sit second on the log table with seven points from three games and will be going into the midweek encounter eyeing all the points to go top of the standings.
Assistant Coach Charles Lubani spoke to club media ahead of the tie and said the ladies are raring to return to winning ways.
“Our preparations are going very well. Following that draw against Wanderers, our ladies are much more dedicated and strong-willed. Everyone seems to know what they want and that anger is pushing them to fight harder, which is why I believe that we will come back with a lot of goals on Wednesday,” Lubani explained.
Bullets Women will travel to BAT without defender Bernadetta Mkandawire and top scorer Vanessa Chikupila, who are on a short-term loan at Ntopwa and currently in South Africa for the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers.
But Lubani stated that the duo’s absence will not affect their performance, saying, “We can’t say that Vanessa and Bernadette left a very big gap because if you saw the team, you’d be impressed with how they are playing.
“During the last game, Wanderers only had one chance created in our defensive area, which shows our defence was very good even without Mkandawire. Yes, the attacking force, which is led by Chikupila was kind of slow, but we will push for more in her absence in the next fixture.”
In their three league matches this season, Bullets Women have scored 26 goals, with Chikupila scoring half of those goals.
Our Wednesday opponents, who are winless this campaign, are bottom of the table and are yet to find the back of the net.
A win on Wednesday will see our women’s team dislodging Ntopwa from the summit of the table with a one-point gap.
