FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women unleashed a devastating attack on Wakawaka Tigresses in the Goshen-FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League, walloping the home side 14-0 at Mitole PMF Ground on Sunday afternoon.
Tendai Sani found the back of the net nine times, as Rachel Matemba, Fauza Mohammed, Wongani Mnenula and Asiyatu George were also on target as our ladies’ team proved to be super free-scoring. It was 0-7 already at halftime.
What happened
The game exploded into life from the opening whistle. Matemba opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Sani doubled the lead two minutes later, firing home Vanessa Issa’s precise pass.
Sani continued her rampage, netting her second goal in the 12th minute, thanks to Mohammed’s clever setup.
Maggie Chombo’s girls were unstoppable, with Mohammed joining the scoring party in the 18th minute, courtesy of Tamara Mhango’s slick pass.
It was a hat trick for Sani as our ladies continued their riot against the hosts, scoring our fifth goal in the 28th minute, with Matamando Makawa providing the assist.
Bullets continued tormenting their opposition and they were powerless to stop the deluge. Sani scored her fourth goal on the afternoon in the 34th minute, before adding another one four minutes later to end the opening period 7-0.
The job looking to be done, Chombo made a triple substitution as she replaced Makawa, Matemba and Issa with Mnenula, George and Caroline Mlezo.
The second half was more of the same, with George registering her first assist after setting up Mohammed to score her second goal in the tie two minutes after break.
Mnenula also registered her first assist in the tie, executing a clever pass to Sani, and our leading scorer in the women’s league this campaign made no mistake in putting the ball into the back of the net to score her sixth goal of the afternoon.
Chombo made two more substitutions as she introduced Pilirani Malora and Triphonia Banda for Mohammed and Lyna James.
Sani’s incredible tally continued to rise, with the striker bagging her final goal of the game in the 64th minute, George producing a brilliant pass.
Fourteen minutes later, Malora was a provider to the next goal, setting up substitute Mnenula to register her name on the scoresheet and make it 13-0.
George hit the last nail in the 84th minute of the tie after receiving a brilliant pass from Banda, and that was 14-0 in favour of Bullets Women.
What Chombo said after the match
“I’m thrilled with the performance of my team today. We dominated the game from start to finish, and our attacking play was simply breathtaking. Of course, we can’t get too carried away with this result. We’ll need to stay focused and motivated for our next game.”
