Bullets Youth beat Jimmy Zakazaka Academy 3-0

Share

Our Under-19s continued their perfect start to the 2024 FCB Kastwiri Youth League following their 3-0 victory over Jimmy Zakazaka Academy on Sunday at the Chilomoni Stadium.

The in-form Maxwell Sakanamba bagged a brace before Martin Adam sealed what was the second win for our youngsters.

What happened

The fixture started with both teams eager to settle in but it would be Bullets Youth who first took the lead early in the tie through Sakanamba’s sublime free-kick.

Despite attempts from Jimmy Zakazaka Academy to equalize, they struggled to convert chances, while Sakanamba capitalized again from a corner to double the lead.

Although another goal from Osman George was ruled offside, Bullets Youth maintained their attacking pressure, keeping the opponents on the chopping board.

The first half ended with Sakanamba’s brace defining the one-sided affair, where our youngsters had five goal attempts, two on target.

In the second half, Bullets Youth continued their dominant play, seeking a third goal. Coach Yamikani Fodya’s substitution of Martin Adam proved effective, with Adam scoring from a Vincent Kampira assist.

Kampira, who started the move from defence through Blessings Chiku, was later replaced by Edwin McFallen due to injury. Further substitutions saw Charles Kasalanga and Charles Mkandawire introduced, contributing to a 3-0 victory after 90 minutes.

What it means

With this win, Bullets Youth now have six points from two games. They have now managed to score seven goals without conceding.

After winning the Player of the Match award last weekend, Sakanamba was at it again with another standout performance with two goals, earning praise from coach Fodya.

Fodya’s post-match remarks

“It was a difficult match given that our opponents were coming from a loss but I said to the boys ‘if we want to win this match we need to score early’, so our game plan worked well. We will keep developing and teaching the boys to do well. We won but we have made a lot of mistakes today that we need to polish up.”

Looking ahead

Bullets U19s will aim to build on their success in the upcoming fixture this weekend.
