FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have completed the signing of central defender Chikumbutso Henderson.
The 29-year-old has joined The People’s Team on a two-year deal from Mzuzu City Hammers.
He becomes Peter Mponda’s first new signing in this January transfer window.
Henderson spent one and a half years with Mzuzu City after joining them from non-league side, Ngwanje FC.
Last season, he helped the team secure a top-four finish in the TNM Super League and reach the Castel Challenge Cup final.
Henderson said: “I am overwhelmed with joy for signing for Bullets from Mzuzu City Hammers, a small team compared to Bullets. This is exciting because it’s a sign of growth for me as a player. Everyone out there knows that Bullets has achieved so many great things and I am privileged to join this club and accomplish even more together. I am ready to work and I am urging the Bullets supporters to welcome me with open arms for me to continue improving from the player I was at Hammers and give them the best of me.”
On joining a club with a huge following and so many expectations, he responded: “I am ready to handle the pressure that comes with playing for Bullets. Football is all the same, what is different now is the environment.”

He added: “I have joined a new club, with new people and fresh ideas, and I believe combining this new knowledge with what I have from Mzuzu City Hammers will take my game to a whole different level. I am very positive about joining this new club, which also has a new coach and I can’t wait for this fresh start.
“I also want to thank Mzuzu City Hammers for everything they have done for me until this time I’ve joined Bullets. I wish the club and the supporters all the best. I have been with them and now God has opened a new door for me.”
Coach Peter Mponda said: “Going forward in terms of attack, we are okay, but we have gaps in defence, and that’s why we looked around to sign him. Henderson is a very good defender. I have been following him. He has got the height that we need from a defender, and he is well-composed. He has areas that need to be improved and we believe we will get what we are looking for in him.”
Meanwhile, our new head coach has confirmed that The People’s Team will make two or three more signings to bolster the squad.
“We still need to look around and see players who can come to help us improve the team. We are bringing the players to improve on [the quality] we already have.”
