FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will play Silver Strikers during the official launch of the 2023 Castel Challenge Cup at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on 17 June.
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) confirmed on Friday.
“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will play Silver Strikers in a ceremonial match at the official launch of the Castel Challenge Cup on Saturday, 17 June 2023 at the BNS,” FAM shared on their official Facebook page.
This will be the third meeting between the two teams in this football calendar, having met in the opening match of the 2023 TNM Super League at the same venue in April when the spoils were shared following a 1-1 draw.
The People’s Team and the Central Bankers also faced off during the Kamuzu Day celebrations at Civo Stadium where Kalisto Pasuwa’s men won 1-0.
The ceremonial match will be played during the international break to unveil the inaugural Castel Challenge Cup which will kick in July.
The initial stage of the trophy will involve competitions running concurrently at the district level and regional level and winners of the preliminary phase will qualify for the national phase, where they will be pooled together with Super League teams.
