Eight young players from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have been selected for the final Malawi U-20 squad heading to Mozambique for the 2024 Cosafa Championship, which this time will be a regional qualifier for the upcoming U-20 African Cup of Nations.
All are coming from our reserves, namely defenders Happy Mphepo, Kondwani Tebulo and Edward Thengo as well as midfielders Blessings Kanowa, Misheck Biliati, Zanil Jussab, Francis Malikebu, and Madalitso Safuli.
If they have to earn a ticket to AFCON, the junior Flames will have to finish among the top two teams in Group C, which has Lesotho, Comoros and South Africa competing.
Bob Mpinganjira’s 20-member side left for Maputo Monday morning and they open their tourney against South Africa on Friday.
We wish our youngsters and the Malawi U20 squad a successful tourney in Maputo.
