Lovemore Fazili, the Malawi national women’s team coach, has included five of Nyasa Big Bullets Women’s stars in his 22-member squad for the 2022 Cosafa Women’s Championship.

The Scorchers left the country for South Africa on Monday afternoon.

Fazili has made his final cut from a 32-member provisional squad his predecessor, Thom Nkolongo, named before he resigned unexpectedly.

Two of our defenders, one of our strikers, one of our midfielders and our number one goalkeeper are set to showcase their talents at the 2022 Cosafa games set for Nelson Mandela Bay from August 31 to September 11.

Goalkeeper, Martha Banda has been granted another chance to perform on the big stage after she missed out on the tournament last year. Emily Jossam continues to be a regular for the Scorchers as the defender is also in the final squad.

An interesting inclusion on the list is our 19-year-old defender Bernadette Mkandawire who will be at the Cosafa games for the first time. Also on the list of the Scorchers stars are Bullets Women midfielder Vanessa Chikupira and striker Mary Chavinda.
