Inside Bullets this week

Coming from the disappointing 1-0 defeat away to Chitipa United in the TNM Super League this season, our first team returned to training Tuesday afternoon in readiness for this weekend’s showdown against Ekwendeni Hammers.

And the reserves, after winning the mini-derby against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Reserves at the weekend, switch their attention to Sunday’s fixture against Changalume Barracks.

There will be no action for our women’s and youth teams as they await the resumption of the women’s and U-19 football leagues.

We look at what’s coming for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets this week…

First team

Kalisto Pasuwa’s charges registered their first defeat of the season when Collins Okumu’s own goal condemned the defending champions to a 1-0 defeat to Chitipa United.

The result saw The People’s Team dropping into the second position following Silver Strikers’ 1-0 win over Kamuzu Barracks to leapfrog us with just a point as they are now having 18 points from the same number of eight games.

Now Pasuwa’s men switch their attention to Saturday’s game against a rejuvenated Ekwendeni Hammers at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Northern Region-based outfit has never won against Bullets, but their recent form, which has seen them winning four consecutive matches, will give them confidence going into this encounter against the defending champions.

As for the Bullets, a win will be a must to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat as they continue chasing a fifth league title in a row.

Tickets for the match are already on the market at various selling points across Blantyre.

Reserves

Our junior team had a remarkable 3-0 win over rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Reserves on Saturday to move top of Group B in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League courtesy of a brace from Wongani Kaponya and a lone strike from Chrispin Mapemba.

The win means Enos Chatama’s side is top with 11 points, a point above the second-placed FOMO FC.

Their next opposition is Changalume Barracks at home on Sunday. The defending champions will be looking to continue from where they stopped when they hammered the soldiers 3-0 at the same venue last season.

Our women and youth teams will continue fine-tuning ahead of the new season in their respective competitions.

Maggie Chombo’s ladies will return to the field of play this month in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League whilst Autry Kalulu’s youngsters will take part in the FCB Under-20 League which kicks off at the end of this month.

Even though the main team suffered their first loss of the season, the brand secured yet another partnership with MPC, where amongst other things, the company will help to drive our commercialization efforts by ferrying our merchandise to various post offices to reach out to millions of our supporters.

We rise again and look forward to a productive week!
