Inside Bullets this week

Share

It’s a new week with plenty of activities at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as all our teams will be involved in their respective competitions as they continue chasing for points and glory.

Let’s take a look at what’s coming this week.

First team

Straight from the 2-2 draw at home against Dedza Dynamos last Saturday, Kalisto Pasuwa’s charges will now switch their attention to the FDH Bank Cup round-of-16 tie against a non-league side, Balaka FC at Balaka Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It’s a knockout competition where the winner will progress to the last-8, and as defending champions, Bullets will put their league disappointments behind them to solely focus on advancing to the next stage of this prestigious Cup.

However, The People’s Team has to overcome a side currently fourth in Group A of the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League, with 14 points heading into the second round.

The non-league side has scored 15 goals and conceded 11.

Pasuwa will welcome back Alick Lungu, Frank Willard, Patrick Mwaungulu and Lanjesi Nkhoma, who were with the senior Malawi national team at the COSAFA Senior Challenge in South Africa.

Bullets will also be expected to welcome back several squad members that have recovered from injuries and illness, a massive boost for Pasuwa’s side.

Reserves

Enos Chatama’s charges have done it. They have won Group A of the ThumbsUp SRFL with 22 points from ten games, two ahead of the second-placed FOMO FC.

Their next assignment is against Zomba Airbase away from home to officially kickstart the second-round campaign.

The first-round encounter between the two teams ended 9-0 in favour of the young Bullets.

But, since that hammering, the Zomba-based side improved tremendously, and they finished third in the standings behind Bullets and FOMO FC.

The match will be played this weekend, subject to confirmation from the Southern Region Football Association.

Youth

They registered their first defeat of the season in the FCB Under-19 Cup when they lost 1-0 at home to Yizo Yizo Warriors. Their next assignment is against Griffin Youngsters on Saturday.

The defeat on Saturday saw Autry Kalulu’s youngsters dropping into third position with 10 points from four games, behind CC Stars and Asima United, both with 12 points from the same number of games.

Women

Our ladies’ team continue fine-tuning for the new season in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region Football League. They are coming from Sunday’s 3-1 victory away to Mozambican side United Desportivo de Lichinga Women.
