Inside Bullets this week

Share

A busy schedule awaits Bullets with the first team returning to the field of play on Wednesday afternoon for the final match of the first round in the 2023 TNM Super League campaign.

The People’s Team will then proceed to the Capital City for a cup match. There will however be no action for the reserves, the women and youth teams.

Here’s a look at what’s coming ahead in the first week of the new month.

First team

Despite playing at Kamuzu Stadium, the TNM Super League defending champions will be an away side against Mighty Tigers in the midweek fixture.

Wednesday’s tie will be an opportunity for Bullets to finish the opening half of the league top of the standings heading into the second round, which they will start with another away fixture against Mafco FC at Chitowe seven days later.

The People’s Team had a comfortable 2-0 win over Karonga United last Saturday to move top of the standings with 29 points.

A win against Tigers will see Maule finish the first round on top of the summit with 32 points, with second-placed Chitipa United ending the opening half of the campaign at 29 points from 15 games, while third-placed Silver Strikers can only finish with 31 points if they win against Moyale Barracks in the last game of this round.

From the league action Bullets will proceed to Lilongwe where to face the winner between Extreme FC and Mbabzi United in the quarterfinals of the FDH Bank Cup.

Extreme and Mbabzi will face off on Tuesday to find out which side will meet the defending champions at Civo Stadium on Saturday.

Reserves

The defending champions of Malawi’s Premier Division from the Southern Region will not be in action as they finished the first round a fortnight ago and will be resuming the final half of the league next week.

Youth team

Like the reserves, our developmental team will not be involved in the FCB Under-19 Cup after completing the first round.

Autrey Kalulu’s youngsters have finished on a high note following a 2-0 victory over Asima FC to move top of the standings with 16 points.

In the opening half of their 2023 campaign, Bullets Youth have registered five wins, one loss and one draw, scoring 18 goals and conceding four.

Women

Going into August, Maggie Chombo’s ladies continue preparing for the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League new season.
