Heading into the international break, the first team will not be involved this week as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has contributed more than three players to the Malawi national team facing Guinea in the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Lilongwe on Saturday.
But the reserves, women and youth teams will be involved in their respective competitions in the ThumbsUp Southern Region League, FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League and the FCB Under-19 Cup.
Let’s now take a look at what’s coming ahead this week as Kalisto Pasuwa’s side continues fine-tuning for the CAF Champions League.
First Team
For the second week running, Pasuwa’s charges will be without any game due to the international break and will continue gearing up for next week’s CAF Champions League second preliminary round first-leg tie against TP Mazembe at the Bingu National Stadium on 17 September.
Women
Our women’s team will face Evirom at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for the fourth game of the season.
Maggie Chombo’s ladies have won two of their last three games in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League, beating Bvumbwe and Red Lioness while drawing against Mighty Wanderers Queens.
Youth
Fresh from their successful match last week, the youth team will now focus on the fifth-placed Assima FC in the FCB Under-19 Cup on Saturday.
Autrey Kalulu’s youngsters opened up a six-point gap over the second-placed CC Stars, and a win over Assima will officially seal the qualification to the knockout stages of the competition.
They currently lead the table in Group A with 32 points.
Reserves
Following their 1-1 draw against The Boys in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League, Enos Chatama’s charges will know their next opponent this afternoon as they await the Southern Region Football Association to officially release the fixture.
Despite the setback, they are still leading Group B with 26 points, but with a game more than the second-placed FOMO FC, who will play Mighty Wanderers Reserves on Wednesday.
