Inside Bullets this week

Share

The Blantyre derby, the most prominent football fixture in the land, is this week’s highlight in the Bullets diary.

In the TNM Super League and the FCB Katswiri Under 20 League, the first team and our Under 19s are set to take on the blue side of town in their next games, respectively.

With two fixtures this week, our reserves will have a chance to go top of the ThumbsUp Southern Region League if they win their next assignment at home.

Below is the low-down on all Bullets activities this third week of October.

MONDAY

Enos Chatama’s boys recorded their biggest win of the season on Monday when they thumped The Boyz 5-0 at Kamuzu Stadium. Our young forward, Prince Chalera, scored his first hat trick in the red and white shirt.

TUESDAY – WEDNESDAY

The first team will continue preparing for the big match against rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s squad regrouped on Monday after our outing in Lilongwe, where we booked a place in the semifinals of the Airtel Top 8 with a 2-0 aggregate victory over Civil Service United.

Our Under 19s and reserves will continue with regular training, preparing for their upcoming fixtures. The women’s team will continue training without any match ahead after contributing four players to the Malawi squad currently in South Africa for the Hollywoodbets Cosafa Women’s Championship.

THURSDAY

10h00 – Pasuwa’s press conference

The head coach will face the media ahead of the Blantyre derby. Among the issues, he will preview the big game and share his latest team news after Saturday’s encounter against Civil.

14h30 – Bullets Reserves v Mangochi United

Our reserves will return to league action with a home game against Mangochi United at Kamuzu Stadium.

After the first leg ended goalless, Chatama will be eager to see his boys collecting all three points to move to the top of the ThumbsUp SRFL Group B table.

They will head into this match after hammering The Boyz 5-0 to move a point within log leaders Nyambadwe United.

Bullets Reserves have 37 points from 19 games, two games in hand over Nyambadwe United. A win will see them occupy the top position in the last two games before the knockout stages.

FRIDAY

Training will continue for all our teams, with the men’s teams toning down their sessions coming from a midweek fixture and heading into the weekend games.

SATURDAY

9h30 – Bullets U19s v Wanderers Youth

Bullets and Wanderers youth teams will curtain raise Saturday’s big match with the Blantyre mini-derby set to kick off in the morning.

The two teams are separated by just two points in the FCB Katswiri Under 20 League. Bullets are in second place with 39 points from 19 games, while the young Nomads are in fifth place with 37 points from the same number of games.

Our youngsters reigned the first-round meeting with a 1-0 victory. However, they are going into this match straight from their 1-0 defeat to Airsport United on Saturday away at Chilomoni Stadium.

15h00 – Bullets v Wanderers

The much-anticipated Blantyre derby against our cross-town rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium as we look to close the gap with the top two sides in the TNM Super League.

Victory for Pasuwa’s men will reduce the gap against the Nomads to four points. We currently have 37 points, while our rivals, in second position, have 44 points.

A win in our 23rd game of the campaign will also mean reclaiming the third spot in the table over Mzuzu City Hammers, who have collected 39 points in 24 matches.

Going into Saturday’s clash, Wanderers are coming from a 1-0 TNM Super League defeat away to Karonga United, while we drew 0-0 away to Civil Service United in the second leg of the Airtel Top 8 quarterfinals.

SUNDAY

All our four teams will rest on Sunday ahead of another busy schedule next week.
