Kalisto Pasuwa says FCB Nyasa Big Bullets must be cautious when facing newly promoted Baka City in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.
The Karonga-based side visits Blantyre for the first time since their promotion to the elite league to play the defending champions in their fourth fixture of this campaign.
Baka are winless in their opening three matches and sit 15th in the standings with just a point, having drawn once and lost twice.
Bullets will be heading into Saturday’s tie from a 3-0 victory over Chitipa United last Sunday.
Despite their winless run, Pasuwa cautioned his men against underrating this weekend’s opponents, having watched them record a goalless draw against Mafco FC at home 24 hours before our game against Chitipa at Karonga Stadium.
“We need ourselves to go in the field with the right sense of positivity for us to take up the points. That mind of saying we are hosting Baka should be removed from [the players]. The first thing is to say we are playing a team that is also in the league.
“If you go inside the field of play with the wrong attitude, you end up dropping points. I saw them playing Mafco on Saturday and they are not a bad team, full of energy and the fact that we don’t know much about them, means they are dangerous hence the need for us to be very careful on Saturday,” Pasuwa told club media.
Baka’s tie will be our second TNM Super League fixture at home this term after drawing 0-0 with Mighty Waka Waka Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium on 13 April.
“We haven’t done much in the finishing phase when we are playing at home. The first thing for us is to have a correct positive mindset, not to say we are playing Baka then put it into our heads that they came in the league this year. They will end up giving us problems because these are the teams that give it all when playing us, full of energy, and to them, they are already motivated to face us,” explained the head coach.
The People’s Team will be eager to continue the two-year unbeaten home run and keep pace with early pacesetters, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Silver Strikers, who have seven points each from the opening three games.
Bullets, sixth in the league standings, have five points from three games, registering two back-to-back draws to Dedza Dynamos and Mighty Tigers FC, before last weekend’s big win at Chitipa United.
