Marvelous Lungu performance as Bullets smash Songwe 7-0

Wongani Lungu put on a performance to remember at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday afternoon, inspiring FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to a dominant 7-0 TNM Super League victory over newly-promoted Songwe Border United.

The attacking midfielder registered two goals and an assist, earning himself a well-deserved Player of the Match award.

From the first whistle, Lungu looked a class above, dictating the tempo and pulling the strings for the hosts.

After Babatunde Adepoju had put Bullets ahead from the spot in the seventh minute, Lungu doubled our advantage in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on a mistake made by the visiting goalkeeper Francis Mwakabango, who lost possession so easily for the midfielder to pounce.

Our number 19 doubled his tally two minutes later. Chikumbutso Salima made a brilliant turn close to the centre circle to find his way into the visitors’ six-yard area where the opposition again failed to defend and Lungu fired a low drive into the bottom corner.

Not content with just scoring, Lungu turned provider to our final goal, delivering a perfectly weighted pass for Hassan Kajoke, who made no mistake in scoring his first goal of the season.

The victory cements Bullets’ strong start to the season, with Lungu quickly becoming the talisman for Peter Mponda’s side.

After just three league appearances, the young star already boasts an impressive seven goal contribution, underlining his growing importance to the team.

Speaking after the match, an elated Lungu said: “I’m excited to win this accolade having contributed to this victory. The coach wanted us to win this game at all cost and that’s exactly what we delivered. These are crucial three points because we know they’ll eventually make a huge difference. Winning Player of the Match is exceptional because every player wants to contribute to the success of his team.”

Following Sunday’s victory, The People’s Team opened a three-point gap at the top of the log table with nine points from three games. Bullets have scored twelve goals and conceded one.
