Match preview: Bullets v Creck

Share

Straight from our 4-2 win over Chitipa United on Sunday, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets return to Kamuzu Stadium for another TNM Super League fixture as we host Creck Sporting Club this afternoon.

It’s another important task for the defending champions who continue hunting for points the hard way this season in our quest for a sixth title on the trot.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s charges seek another positive outcome at home before travelling to the Northern Region for two assignments on the road.

Bullets must overcome a very organised side that currently occupies the fourth position in the standings with 31 points from 21 games. This is another massive game for the 2023 quadruple winners.

FORM GUIDE

Pasuwa’s men are not at their best this season as they have dropped many points in the title race. From 18 games, The People’s Team have only managed six wins, drawing nine and suffering three losses two of which have been home defeats.

At this stage last season Bullets were topping the standings with 37 points, finding the back of the net 34 times against 10 goals conceded.

So far this championship race, the 2023 quadruple-winners have collected 27 points, 21 behind league leaders Silver Strikers.

On Wednesday afternoon, Maule go into this match buoyed by Sunday’s 4-2 triumph over Chitipa United.

The midweek victory moved us from 10th to 9th position and with two games in hand, another win would push us up the ladder as we keep fighting until the final match of the season, as reiterated by head coach Kalisto Pasuwa during his Tuesday pre-match press conference.

Our opponents are coming from a goalless draw away to Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday.

Before travelling to Mzuzu, the TNM Super League newcomers also played out another stalemate when they drew 1-all away at Dedza Dynamos a fortnight ago.

Facing the champions of Malawi for the first time in Blantyre will be their third straight game away from home.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

There isn’t much to write about this fixture as this will be our second meeting with Creck in all competitions following our first encounter in June at Civo Stadium where Bullets gave away a lead to draw 1-1.

Creck’s last two visits to Kamuzu Stadium

Visiting Blantyre, Creck lost their two games against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Mighty Tigers at Wednesday’s venue.

The Nomads hammered the visitors 3-0 in the first round of the campaign in April the Kau Kau Boys recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Macdonald Mtetemera’s side last month.

TEAM NEWS

There are no fresh injuries for Pasuwa’s squad as we welcome Creck SC to Kamuzu Stadium this Wednesday afternoon. Lloyd Aaron, who limped off during our tie against Chitipa, is available for selection.

The rest of the players who are currently undergoing rehab will continue training until they return to full fitness.
