FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will conclude the Northern Region tour with another TNM Super League fixture against Mzuzu City Hammers on Wednesday afternoon at Mzuzu Stadium.
The defending champions will look forward to another win after their scrappy 1-0 victory over relegation-bound Baka City on Sunday.
Kalisto Pasuwa’s men have never had it easy facing the Hammers at Mzuzu Stadium. They have two wins out of three away league matches against the side formerly known as Ekwendeni Hammers.
In this current league campaign, the two teams are separated by a point, with Bullets sitting fifth while Hammers are sixth.
FORM GUIDE
Pasuwa’s men registered three straight wins in the league for the first time this season, moving from 10th place.
Bullets beat Chitipa United 4-2, Creck Sporting Club 3-2, and recently, Baka City 1-0 to reignite their hopes of fighting for the title against the early set pacers, Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
Mzuzu City Hammers are winless in their last three matches. Before Wednesday’s tie, they were held to a goalless draw against Waka Waka Mighty Tigers. They had previously lost 3-0 away to Civil Service United and 1-0 to Karonga United to drop into sixth place, losing eight points from a possible nine.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
Since earning promotion to the TNM Super League, we have played Wednesday’s opponents eight times, won seven games and drew once.
Our last victory over Hammers was in May when we beat them 2-0 to register our second league win after a frustrating start to our league title defence.
Our last meeting away from home ended 1-1 in October at Rumphi Stadium before recording a 4-0 thumping of them in the quarterfinals of the Castel Challenge Cup in December in Blantyre.
We have played them twice at Mzuzu Stadium, winning both games. We first beat them 1-0 in 2020 courtesy of a late strike from Gomezgani Chirwa and 2-0 in the 2022 season through a strike each from Precious Sambani and Nickson Nyasulu.
A win in our third meeting in the Green City will take us to third in the standings.
TEAM NEWS
The squad that won against Baka City did not sustain any new injuries. However, Pasuwa will be without midfielder Lloyd Aaron due to suspension after accumulating three yellow cards.
Bullets will also welcome back Sambani after he missed Baka’s game due to suspension.
