Pasuwa: I can’t ask for too much

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa says he cannot ask for too much from his players who have been playing a game every three days, saying they are not immune from fatigue.

The tactician said this following The People’s Team’s 1-1 draw away to Red Lions in the TNM Super League on Wednesday at Balaka Stadium.

After a goalless draw at the break, Patrick Mwaungulu had put Maule ahead with a great finish in the 55th minute after being set by substitute Stanley Billiat, but the hosts levelled through Deus Mkutu’s strike with 16 minutes left.

This was Bullets’ second successive draw after they played out to another 1-1 stalemate against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers on Sunday.

“It’s a point gained and I can’t expect more from these boys. They have been playing football almost every day, so for me to demand more from them then am asking for too much,” he reiterated.

“It was a game that we knew would be very difficult for us. It was a game of few chances, you get your chance, you bury it. We had three chances that I thought we would have scored from them, but we couldn’t take them on,” he commented on the draw against a team that is second from the bottom of the table.

“These teams which are in the relegation zone will give it all to get something out of the game. If you look today, they pressed us and one would wonder what would have happened if they had been playing like this [the entire season].

With four games to go, The People’s Team, currently top of the standings with 55 points, will face Blue Eagles in Lilongwe on Sunday and Pasuwa anticipates yet another difficult task.

He said: “Now we have another task, a different one, but very difficult as well. So, we just need to pull ourselves together and go to Nankhaka with a positive mind.”

The defending champions, with two games in hand, opened a one-point lead over Wanderers following the midweek draw away in Balaka and a win in our next assignment will take us closer to a fifth league title in a row.
