Pasuwa reaction to Saturday’s 2-1 win over Dedza

After guiding his men to a 2-1 over Dedza Dynamos at the Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Kalisto Pasuwa faced the press and discussed several issues on the closing day of the TNM Super League campaign. From whether everything has gone according to expectations to hinting about further signings at the club.

Below is Pasuwa’s every word after Bullets were officially crowned champions on Saturday:

On whether he expected to win while rebuilding a team

“When building a team, you are given a year or two for the team to be okay, but when I saw when we were playing games that we were winning I encouraged the boys saying we can do it. You saw some of the guys were picking up with more game time and they ended up cruising all to the end of the season.”

On the toughest part of the season

“We had a time when we were playing mostly away from home, we struggled a lot, yes. We had also to thank Baba[tunde Adepoju] at times when he was getting individual goals when we were playing away from home, the pitches were bumpy and you know we have been training (at Blantyre Sports Club) where the surface is okay. Then we go there [away] and try to play second balls. We struggled a lot but again we managed to defend and pull out a goal to take the three points.”

On whether it is going to be easy next season with new signings

“I do not think this is going to be easy. Now, these teams know us and tactically they can plan for us.”

On whether there will be more signings after Maxwell Phodo and Chawanangwa Gumbo

“In the international matches that we are playing, remember we struggled a lot through the centre. We hope to try to lure experienced centre-backs so that maybe if we are playing second balls or even if we are playing international matches it won’t be a problem for us.
