Kalisto Pasuwa provided his verdict after FCB Nyasa Big Bullets came from behind to record a 2-1 win with an uninspiring performance against minnows Baka City in the TNM Super League at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The People’s Team conceded in the 13th minute before responding with two first-half goals that sealed victory for the defending champions, who recorded their first home win this campaign through Ephraim Kondowe and Chawanangwa Gumbo’s strikes to move third in the standings.
Providing his post-match reaction, Pasuwa reiterated that he anticipated a highly motivated side in The Clever Boys, who were eager to cause an upset during their first meeting with Bullets and first visit to Blantyre following their admission into the elite league this campaign.
He reacted: “I warned my boys to never underrate any team that comes, and you saw how they played against us. They were full of energy and played on a very good surface, which made them play even better than what many would have expected. But thumbs up to the boys for collecting points even on a very bad day, which is very good at the end of the day.
“It’s the fourth game of the season and we still need to do more in terms of finishing in the last phase of attack. We also need to work on communication between our centre-backs because no one was talking to pick up the lone striker who was playing upfront and the other one who was covering spaces.
“We also need to work on the mental aspect of the boys not to underrate teams regardless of where we are playing. It was after they scored when you could see our boys trying to wake up and they scored those two goals.”
Pasuwa also commented on how defender Colin Mujuru is settling in Malawi after joining Bullets a month ago.
On Saturday, the Zimbabwean picked his second successive TNM Super League Player of the Match award.
“Colin is doing a very wonderful job, but we need to knock sense into his head. At times, he dribbles too much and you know we have surfaces that are not like Kamuzu Stadium because they are bumpy and he needs to have limits, especially in certain situations, but so far, so good from him.”
