Report: Bullets U19 hit five past Ndirande Dortmund

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Under-19 returned to action with a 5-1 victory over Ndirande Dortmund in the FCB Katswiri U19 League at Mpira Stadium on Saturday morning.

Braces from Osman George and Blessings Lungu, alongside Hassan Madula’s strike, secured the young Bullets’ first five-goal haul of the season.

Yamikani Fodya’s side produced an improved attacking display following a two-week break from competitive action, taking a 3-1 lead into half-time before adding two more goals after the interval.

Bullets Take First-Half Control

Bullets started brightly, creating their first opening in the third minute when Prince Jamali delivered a corner into the box, but Blessings Masamba sent his effort wide.

Jamali was involved again six minutes later, whipping in a cross for Hassan Madula, whose header drifted off target.

Ndirande Dortmund responded in the 14th minute through Lenson Allie, but his effort sailed over the crossbar.

The breakthrough arrived three minutes later.

Misheck Bekka’s effort took a deflection, and George reacted quickest to fire the rebound into the net and give Bullets the lead.

The hosts doubled their advantage just two minutes later.

Kelvin Phiri delivered a dangerous cross into the box, where Bekka picked out Lungu, who kept his composure to slot past Ndirande goalkeeper Clement Phabuli.

The visitors introduced Twalik Kalimu for Anthony Bright in the 25th minute, but Bullets continued to threaten.

George turned provider three minutes later, releasing Madula, who finished beyond Phabuli into the far corner to make it 3-0.

Ndirande Dortmund pulled one back in the 31st minute when Twambi Kayange converted from the penalty spot, with Jamali receiving a yellow card following the incident.

Kayange was also booked in the 40th minute for a foul on Hassan Assima as Bullets headed into the interval with a two-goal cushion.

George and Lungu Complete Braces

Ndirande Dortmund made another change eight minutes after the restart, introducing Austin Saopa in place of Simplex Kachingwe.

Willy Demakube and Allie were then both shown yellow cards in the 50th minute as the contest continued.

The visitors had an opportunity from a corner five minutes later, but Kalimu’s delivery sailed over the crossbar.

Bullets added two more goals after the break, with Lungu completing his brace before George struck again in the 56th minute.

George skilfully beat his marker before calmly guiding the ball into the far corner to make it 5-1.

The young Bullets continued to threaten, with Phabuli called into action in the 63rd minute to deal with Lungu’s delivery from a corner.

Ndirande Dortmund almost responded at the opposite end a minute later when Saopa found himself with an open-goal opportunity after beating Assima, but his effort drifted wide.

Fodya made five substitutions in the 66th minute, introducing Mike Kalanda, Dickson Kameza, Esau Kumwenda, Misheck Redson and Isaac Kamwathendo.

The five replaced George, Bekka, Lungu, Jamali and Masamba, respectively.

The visitors made another change in the 72nd minute, with Gift Matthews replacing Phabuli in goal.

Ndirande Dortmund also threatened from a corner, but their effort went over the crossbar as Bullets saw out the closing stages to secure all three points.

Fodya Hails Attacking Improvement

Head coach Yamikani Fodya praised his players’ response after a two-week break, highlighting their improved finishing as the Under-19s scored five goals in a match for the first time this season.

“It was a tough game for both sides. The scoreline might suggest it was an easy victory, but that was far from the case. We had gone two weeks without a competitive match, so we knew it would be a difficult encounter. Credit to the boys for their performance and the effort they put in to secure the win.

“Scoring five goals is a big boost for the boys and will give them confidence going forward. It is the first time we have scored five in a match this season, which is particularly encouraging considering the challenges we have faced in front of goal.

“The break gave us an opportunity to address the mistakes we had been making and work on the technical aspects of our game. I am pleased that the improvements we worked on were reflected in today’s performance.

“We now have to build on this result and carry the same spirit into our next match. The boys will take a lot of confidence from this victory, and we want to keep that momentum going.”
