First team remain unbeaten, Bullets Reserves suffer first setback and loaned youngsters continue gaining valuable experience.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets experienced another busy weekend across various competitions, with the first team extending their unbeaten league run, Bullets Reserves suffering their first defeat of the season and several loan players continuing their development with valuable minutes for their respective clubs.
From a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser in Mwanza to valuable minutes for players across the reserves and loan system, the weekend once again showcased the depth of football activity across the club.
FIRST TEAM
The People’s Team maintained their unbeaten start to the 2026/27 FDH Bank Premiership campaign following a dramatic 1-1 draw against Moyale Barracks at Joyce Chitsulo Stadium on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, the visitors broke the deadlock in the 54th minute when Lucky Mkandawire rose highest to head home from a corner kick and put Moyale in front.
Bullets responded by increasing the pressure and creating several opportunities in search of an equaliser. Their persistence was eventually rewarded deep into stoppage time when Player of the Match George Chaomba capitalised on a goalkeeping error to slot home from close range and rescue a point for the hosts.
The result moved Bullets to 10 points from six matches and preserved The People’s Team’s unbeaten start to the league campaign, with Maule remaining sixth on the FDH Bank Premiership table.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
George Chaomba made a decisive impact for the first team after coming off the bench to score a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser against Moyale Barracks.
The forward showed composure inside the penalty area to punish a goalkeeping mistake and preserve Bullets’ unbeaten start to the league campaign. His influence on the match earned him the Player of the Match award after helping rescue a valuable point for The People’s Team.
Although Bullets Reserves fell short against FC Thondwe, several players continued to show promising signs, with Kondwani Mhone once again catching the eye in midfield following his Player of the Match performance in the season opener against Mwanza Stars.
LOAN WATCH
There was encouraging news from the loan ranks as several Bullets youngsters continued to gain valuable experience across the country’s top competitions.
Goalkeeper Austin Chirambo kept a clean sheet as LUANAR Mitundu FC secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Civil Service United in the National Division League.
Fellow Bullets loanee Oscar Petro started for the visitors in the same fixture as he continued his run of senior appearances away from The People’s Team.
At Bangwe All Stars, Cedric Maxwell featured in their 2-1 defeat to Songwe Border after being introduced at the start of the second half before making way late in the match. Hadji Steven was also included in the squad but remained an unused substitute.
The latest round of fixtures offered further evidence of the benefits of regular senior football, with Bullets’ loan contingent continuing to gain valuable experience in competitive environments across the country.
WOMEN’S TEAM
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women contributed three players to the Malawi National Women’s Football Team squad that departed for Tanzania on Sunday ahead of two international friendly matches against the hosts.
Defender Bernadetta Mkandawire, midfielder Lyna James and forward Mary Chavinda are part of the 23-player Scorchers squad preparing for the fixtures as the national team continues its build-up to the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The trio’s inclusion reflects the growing influence of Bullets Women within the national team setup and provides another opportunity for the players to gain valuable international experience ahead of the new season.
THE WEEK AHEAD
Attention now shifts to another important week for the club as the first team takes advantage of the international break from 1-9 June to continue preparations for the resumption of the FDH Bank Premiership and this month’s Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal first leg against Ekhaya FC.
The break will also see two Bullets players join the Malawi national team camp after midfielder Yankho Singo and forward Ephraim Kondowe linked up with the 23-man squad on Monday ahead of international friendly matches against Ethiopia on 6 and 9 June in Addis Ababa.
The Bullets youth team has also intensified preparations for its upcoming trip to Zambia, where it will represent the club at the Kafue Celtic Under-17 Tournament in Lusaka from 5-8 June as part of Maule’s continued commitment to youth development and international exposure.
Bullets Reserves will be aiming to bounce back from their first defeat of the season as they continue their SRFA FINCA Division League 1 campaign.
With important fixtures on the horizon and players continuing to gain valuable experience across the first team, women’s team, reserves, youth setup, national teams and loan system, the international break presents another opportunity for Maule to build momentum both on and off the pitch ahead of a busy June schedule.
