FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women will take on rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Goshen-FAM Women’s Southern Region League at Mpira Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The derby is set to kick off at 14:00 as Maggie Chombo’s ladies beam with confidence coming from Sunday’s 4-0 victory over defending champions and league leaders, Kukoma Ntopwa Women.
Chombo will go into this afternoon’s match with a full squad as she has no fresh injuries. Our three players who were with the Malawi Under 17 squad are also back and available for selection against Wanderers.
Previewing the third women’s Blantyre derby, the former Malawi striker expects an interesting yet tough match as the lady Nomads will be travelling to Chiwembe looking for a positive result against their rivals.
In seventh position on the 10-team log table, Wanderers have collected four points from the four games they have played, winning only one match, drawing once and losing twice. They have scored 16 goals and conceded four.
“It will be an interesting match but still it will be a tough one. Noma is a good team and it’s always interesting watching the two teams play against each other,” Chombo told club media ahead of the tie.
The new-look Bullets Women’s team, as Chombo has brought in a lot of youngsters to her squad, is yet to taste defeat this season after playing five games and is sitting in second position of the standings with 15 points, one below Ntopwa, who have played seven games.
This league campaign, Bullets have found the back of the net 48 times and have conceded only three goals, while the first-placed Ntopwa have scored 54 goals and conceded eight.
