Bullets duo in Scorchers camp

Tendai Sani and Zainab Kapanda are among the 26 players in the Malawi national women’s football team camp, which kicked off on Wednesday at Mpira Village in Blantyre.

Coach Lovemore Fazili’s squad is intensifying preparations for the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers against Angola in October.

The Scorchers had been scheduled to play two friendly matches against South Africa on April 5 and 8. However, the Football Association of Malawi announced on Wednesday that the hosts are experiencing logistical issues, with confirmation on whether the matches will proceed expected by the end of the week.

The FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women duo previously featured in the Malawi squad that traveled to Lusaka for two international friendlies against Zambia last month.

While both players remained on the bench during Malawi’s 2-0 loss, Kapanda started in the next game, with Sani as an unused substitute in a game which saw the Scorchers come from a goal down to claim a 3-2 victory over the hosts.
