Bullets quartet named in Malawi U20 squad

Four Bullets Women players have been named in Malawi Under 20 provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Malawi will face the Central African Republic in the opening round of the qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled for May 11 at Bingu National Stadium, and the return leg set for May 18 at the same venue.

Trizza Chiwere, Efa Msukwa, Leah Mussa and Asimenye Mwanyongo will join 31 other members named to start training camp on April 28 at the Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.

After helping our women’s team win the 2024 Goshen-FAM Southern Region Football League last season, Chiwere and Msukwa have received their first national team call-ups.

Mwanyongo is no stranger to international football, having featured for Malawi during the COSAFA Under 17 tournament in South Africa and her experience will be crucial in the Scorchers Under 20 setup.

Mussa, who is known for her creativity and composure in midfield, has also risen from the U17 national squad, earning her first call-up to the U20 level.

Maggie Chombo returns as U20 coach

The Bullets Women head coach has been appointed to lead the Malawi Under 20 side.

Chombo, a former Malawi striker and captain, previously led the same squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. She now returns with renewed purpose and experience.
