It was a proud afternoon for FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Women as two of our stars featured in Malawi’s convincing 3-0 victory over Lesotho in the first of two international friendlies played at Mpira Stadium, Blantyre, on Friday.
The Scorchers dominated from the start and carried a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to a brilliant brace from Asimenye Simwaka. In the second half, captain Sabina Thom added her name to the scoresheet to seal an impressive win for Malawi in front of the home fans.
Bullets Women were once again well represented in the national team, with five Maule Ladies named in the matchday squad.
Defender Bernadetta Mkandawire and midfielder and club captain Zainab Kapanda both featured, playing their part in Malawi’s dominant display. Mkandawire stood firm at the back as the Scorchers registered a clean sheet, while Kapanda controlled the tempo in midfield and linked play with confidence.
Goalkeeper Thokozani Mwase, defender Trizza Chiwere, and defender Sharon Dzimau were all included on the bench but did not feature.
Forward Mary Chavinda was unavailable for the fixture after being withdrawn from the squad due to the injury she sustained during our recent NBM Women’s Premiership win over Moyale Sisters.
Their involvement once again underlines the Maule Ladies’ growing presence and importance to the national team.
Malawi will wrap up their two-match series against Lesotho on Sunday, 31 August 2025, again at Mpira Stadium. With another game to come, the Bullets contingent will be pushing for more minutes as they continue to fly the Maule flag high on the international stage.
