As the November international break ends this week, Kalisto Pasuwa’s FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will resume action with two crucial games in the TNM Super League and the Airtel Top 8.
At the same time, the reserves will have a chance to make amends in the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup when they face Ekhaya FC.
Our women’s team will also be looking to continue their form in the FAM Women’s Football Southern Region League when they host Ndirande Super Giants on Saturday.
Let’s take a look at what’s coming ahead this week at The People’s Team.
First Team
On Thursday, the TNM Super League defending champions will travel to Dedza to play Dedza Dynamos. With three straight draws, Pasuwa’s men will head to the Central Region in the hunt for all the points which will take them closer to their fifth straight league title.
To defend their title, Bullets only need four points from their remaining three games.
However, the points will not come on a silver platter as we travel to a stadium where we have never won any competitive match since the opening of the facility.
In the 2022 season, our only defeat in 30 matches came late in the second round when we lost 1-0 to Mafco FC.
But the lads know how important it is to win at Dedza before proceeding to Lilongwe and Karonga for another two important assignments.
After Thursday’s match, Pasuwa’s men will invade the Capital City for Sunday’s Airtel Top 8 semifinal clash against Blue Eagles at Bingu National Stadium.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams in less than two weeks, having shared the spoils with a goalless stalemate in the league just before the international break.
A win on Sunday will make Bullets the first team to reach the final of this knockout competition for the fourth time.
The People’s Team played in the final in 2018, losing to the Area 30 police side, before beating Silver Strikers to win the cup for the first time in the 2020/21 edition, then surrendered it to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers last season.
Reserves
Our team B will face Ekhaya FC in the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup round of 16 at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday. Enos Chatama’s charges proceeded to this round as best losers after they lost their first match to Zingwangwa United.
The Reserves, who won the cup in 2022, have found the season very tough, having loaned out several players to Super League teams at the beginning of this campaign.
Women
Fresh from their comfortable 25-0 win over Evirom FC on Saturday, they will host Ndirande Super Giants in the FAM Women’s Southern Region League.
Trailing with five points from the log leaders, Maggie Chombo’s ladies will be pushing to close the gap at the top of the table.
Our ladies have 25 points while Ntopwa FC have 30.
Youth
Our developmental side is currently inactive following the completion of their games in the FCB Under-19 Cup.
