Pasuwa’s pre-match interview: Baka v Bullets

Share

Kalisto Pasuwa spoke to club media before our trip to Karonga, where FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will face Baka City in the TNM Super League on Sunday.

Bullets will be on the road following the hard-earned 3-2 victory over Creck Sporting Club at Kamuzu Stadium.

But before our next fixture up North, where we will also take on Mzuzu City Hammers after Baka, the head coach has expressed concerns regarding his team’s erratic performances.

The Malawi champions have been inconsistent in recent games, failing to keep a clean sheet in three games and conceding five goals in three matches against Bangwe All Stars, Chitipa United, and Creck.

“My first worry is consistency. We played a game against Creck Sporting Club, and you can see how we went down in the second half. We have gone two games now and are making the very same mistakes. It’s not about fitness levels but the loss of concentration, conceding the same type of goals and the same minutes.

“We need now to grow up in terms of how we deal with this football; otherwise, I am very worried about the level of inconsistency in the team,” expressed the tactician.

Returning to Karonga Stadium for the second time this campaign, after Bullets defeated Chitipa United 3-0 in April, Pasuwa anticipates a tough outing against Baka City, reiterating that every team comes hard against The People’s Team.

“We are here in the Northern Region for these two games. It won’t be easy because if you remember very well, Baka gave us a torrid time when we played them at Kamuzu Stadium [winning 2-1], and we expect another good game from them. To collect points, we need to be very positive in our approach. We must, at all costs, avoid underestimating these teams. If you think it’s going to be easy because it’s Baka, then we will end up being shocked,” he said.

On the other hand, Pasuwa was optimistic that the two back-to-back victories against Chitipa and Creck will help his players regain confidence as they prepare for the Northern Region fixtures.

“It’s a plus for us to go into these matches with a win, but again, I advise the players to take game by game. You go to one game with higher expectations because you feel like you have improved in your shortfalls, but the next thing, you stumble again and go down. Let’s hope that we will be positive in whatever we do so that we win the game.”
